Could you not make Video's a must be pay to download? I dunno perhaps if you want to view the video's of people then they have to subscribe to a weekly, monthly, yearly fee? No free-be's full stop?
Not being funny but you say there is no space for anymore to be uploaded, is anything sent in to be uploaded anymore? This could be the answer to my earlier question of is there anymore stuff...!! If so and there is more, one option would be too make it bigger but cheaper or the other option is to delete older material.
We have it pay per download on the WAP site, just not that many use it yet. We were thinking of allowing users to set their videos to being viewable by either people who subscribe or people who pay to access their vids (not all vids, just if the person who uploads it wants it that way, as they get a %age of any fees as payment). I've been trying to avoid this as much as poss to try and encourage new visitors and users to the site if all content is free, but then if there's no site lol...
Stuff is still being uploaded, I'm just having to delete some stuff from other places I'd rather not have had to. The server is considerably less stable at the moment though, and I've noticed certain important scripts are getting overwritten which cause the site to die (well at least I presume this isn't due to hackers!).
I think the solution to the space problem is to shift servers to somewhere in the US. It'll mean we don't show up in google.co.uk searches quite so well, but hopefully result in nearly half the cost of server. Altho as we need more space we would probably end up spending the same but with larger hard drives so not need to worry for quite some time. Again, anyone who can recommend hosts which allow adult content, just let me know.
So the main problem now is how to cover the costs - been looking at adverts which might help if people click them. Don't want anything too tacky though (anyone who used to use the "other", currently dead mobile pic site will know what I mean!! Just maybe some text links.
i spoke to mct breifly yesterday, without realising it had already been mentioned about paying to view...
Surely a quid or 2 for a yearly subscription would help..how many registered ( frequent ) members are there that would agree.
You could start it from a months time , give people the chance to join properly, payment through credit card or via paypal ( easily set up ) would also help with proof of age for the adult section.
Failing that advertising banners are the way forward.. a bit late in the year but a calander for next year ..run a vote on the top 12 pics male and female for next years ( 2009) calander...a his and hers edition

yup that's a good idea, it's just whether people will actually sign up even if it's something trivial like 1p it'd put people off. If everyone who visited in a single day (according to unique visitor stats at least) donated a pound just £2 once, we'd be covered for the year
I personally think this'd be the best option as would mean, as you say, adults could actually be verified, meaning the site stays a bit better in terms of stopping those who shouldn't be viewing adult content away from it. And could help get rid of any spam posters of ungenuine content, to help keep mobMMS what it is at heart. I'd also give benefits to donors - such as increased inbox space or access to additional features etc.

there' so many people that have registered but don't use it... you should put a time limit on per account so if someone stops using it, you can free up some space and also 'they' are safe in the knowledge that the information posted is distroyed.
another idea is running a competition amoungst the users for 'king and queen' pay a small mounthly fee, couple of quid.. (ie, a pint) and post your best and most creative pics.. put it to the vote and crown someone once a month!.. they then get a prize or something funny!....
or start a swinging party and get everyone to pay, hook up every six months and get it on!
just a thought.
I like the idea of a competition, just we can't really offer anything except maybe eternal glory in a special dedicated section of the site or something!
Maybe I could see if I could get some kind of sponsorship deal going on (i dunno, Ann Summers for example, you win some sexy underwear (on the provision it'd modelled afterwards lol
)) which would be good.
A mobMMS get together (literally) party could be a good thing, but require a fair bit of time and organisation, both of which I lack lol! An informal one would be a good thing to do in the mean time maybe, I could go around with one of those donation buckets haha! :lol:
Me and CC have been discussing this topic and here's a few suggestions....
1. Get rid of any guest posts that are over a certain age, maybe a year old.
2. Limit pic posts to a maximum of 6 per 24hrs, so that the front page cannot be swamped by new members only never to return.
3. Remove the galleries of any member that hasn't logged in for over a year, with prior notice by E mail .
4. Increase security on the adult frontpage. At the moment if you're not logged in the pics are pixellated however if you click on them you can still view each pic which doesn't encourage people to join and contribute to the site.
5. Advertise the forum and chat room more to encourage members to participate in the site more. Add competitions, such as pic of the month where the winning pic get's pride of place on the adult homepage and occasionally have a caption competition with a minimal entry fee for the chance to win a prize.
6. Make the adults section for full members only, possibly with a few free weeks for new members then a small charge one off charge for those who want to stay.

2. I've been meaning to do this for aggges, as quite often new members will upload every photo in their collection then never post again. I put a very very very basic semi-restriction on but it's so easy to get around it's barely worth mentioning it exists. Again, this is just due to lack of time currently I've been unable to implement the proper one
4. Been meaning to do this for ages too, but this is just lazyness as I already got all the code in place lol. My original fear was that Google would stop picking up the pics so less people would find us thru the search engine. However, I've already ruined any chance of this happening by implementing a basic way to stop people saving the images quite so easily, so may as well go do this properly now!
5. Caption contest is a good idea, hadn't thought of that! We've been thinking about a winning pic each month but just not got round to it (we have a seriously long To-Do list in the moderator section - spans several pages currently!!!). I guess we could try and make it not too complicated by just counting the number of votes per month for each pic. Or views per month. Or maybe ratio of votes to views. Or make it simpler still by just having suggestions each month in this forum, put all the nominations in a poll and winner gets their pic in the gallery.
I've added a list of recent forum posts to some pages of the site (couldn't do it on all without spending more time due to conflicts of certain things). So hopefully that'll help make the forum more noticable. Obviously paid advertising we can't do at the mo but I don't think that's what you meant anyway?

Right, think that's all the main points addressed! Costs - It's something like £150-£200 per month for the server, then we've got the cost of the WAP billing which is £10 a month from one provider, and £20 from another (special rate currently though, it'd be a shocking £299 per month if not!!). Plus it'd be nice to be able to buy the moderators a pint one every so often for their work lol.
